Austin Hatch:  Athlete, Survivor, National Keynote Speaker

Grit and Thriving in the Midst of Adversity

Get ready to be blown away by Austin Hatch…two-time plane crash survivor; former college athlete and inspirational speaker.

CILCSA is proud to partner with Springfield Clinic to bring national keynote speaker Austin Hatch to Springfield on Tuesday, June 7, 2023, to share his story of “Grit and Thriving in the Midst of Adversity”.

The lessons that Austin Hatch learned on his journey from a coma to a wheelchair, to playing basketball for Michigan can apply to overcoming any form of adversity.  His talks leave audiences inspired to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.  We each face challenges every day; Austin believes part of his purpose in life is to inspire others to find ways to thrive in the midst of them.

“We don’t get to choose the adversity we face,
but I believe we always get to choose how we respond.”

-Austin Hatch

Get ready for an evening of inspiration that will leave you ready to overcome the obstacles that may be standing in your way.

WOW Customer Experiences are about meaningful details, they are unique, and not part of a mechanical scripted process. They are unique gestures, not born out of rules or “best practices,” but as an expression of your company’s culture, its shared values, and ideals.

Join us in celebrating our newest “WOW” Award Winners,
Eureka at Walmart and Jennifer at Springfield Clinic!

WOW Award Winner
Christine Goleman
Advanced Healthcare

Christine’s caring and compassion earned her this award. Most recently she worked tirelessly to provide transportation for a patient to see her husband in Hospice prior to his passing. “This is just one of the many examples of her selflessness, she is the epitome of what a Social Worker should be and the world needs more Christie’s in it!”

-Jennifer Buhlig, Nominator

WOW Award Winner
Bernedette Wallace
McDonald’s
South 6th St.

“Bernedette’s brilliant greeting of “Hey-Pretty Lady!” always sends her customers on their way to a good day! The line always seems slower and more lethargic when she’s not there. Her infectious personality is more potent than therapy or any bad weather.

People like her don’t happen in your life very often but she sends much of downtown Springfield off with a smile!”

-Dr. Colleen Moore, Nominator

“Seems like such a simple, easy gesture, but if you saw everything he went through it was definitely a WOW moment.”

— Andrew Bartlett in his nomination of Steve Wade for the WOW Award

The deadline for this round of WOW Award
nominations is July 15, 2023.

What is the WOW Award?

The “WOW” Award, sponsored by 92.7 WMAY, is our opportunity to recognize those unsung heroes that lift our spirits and inspire us through their simple or extraordinary acts of kindness or superior customer service.  All nominations are presented to CILCSA’s Advisory Committee for a thorough review before a winning nomination is selected by vote.  Winners are recognized, typically at their workplace, with an award delivered personally by members of CILCSA’s Board of Directors.

By recognizing those who make a difference in our lives, we are challenged to think about how we can do the same for others.  It’s often not even what we do, but how we do it.  Together, one personal encounter at time, me can make our Springfield a happier place to be.  A place where people feel respected, included, and welcomed.

If you know a community member who deserves to be recognized for their extraordinary act of kindness or superior customer service, nominate them today!

As the saying goes, “people may not remember what you said or did, but they will remember how they made you feel”.

— Steve Miller in his nomination of Brad Hanson for the WOW Award
